During a time in our country when African-Americans in communities are being killed by police and police officers are being gunned down in the streets, we need to strive for change.
“One of the reasons we fear each other is because we don’t know each other. We don’t have any experiences with each other,” Creating avenues that will allow for more interaction between police and the community. More diversity on the force will also help break down the language barrier in the community.
Community 4 Community understands that gap in communication should be closed and strives to build relations between community, businesses, police department and schools by working together to reduce fear. When business owners in communities are involved as sponsors and volunteers for events held in the locations where they conduct business creates bonds and often less chance of crimes. Policeman patrolling neighborhoods should take time to introduce themselves by getting to know the names of the families in those neighborhoods builds trust.
